Bad Puns
Everyone loves a pun!
Yes, that’s right, but mostly when you’re the one who gets it off. Like yesterday, for example. It went like this:
Friend: I think I want to silk screen some socks.
Me: Yeah?
Friend: Yeah. What should I silk screen on them?
Me: Owls.
Friend: Nah, I thought of that, but no.
Me: Clocks.
Friend: That might work.
Me: Yeah! Then it can be, like, when you wear them it’s like you’re running out of time!
It really sounded like that too. This has been the week of (weak XD) puns. My bio teacher the other day too, in response to, “… well you weigh it and…” then my bio teacher said, “No! You don’t weigh anything here. It’s about mass. You don’t mass with a scale.” I was the only one you could hear laughing at that one for some reason. The clincher came Wednesday though, when a different friend came and told us about a Japanese pun they told sensei.
トモダチ: 先生、今日、昼ご飯にショウガが入っていますか。
先生:いいえ、入っていません。
トモダチ:ああ、しょがないね。
I laughed despite myself. It was kinda lame. Then I was thinking, they must have gotten that somewhere, and so I did a quick search, and sure enough it was right there.
Ah HA! I knew it. It’s a variation, but undoubtedly Ken and Remi were the source. What do we learn from this? The internet tells all.
I like this one: ”Kanojo to doko de deattano?”
”Koutsuu jiko no genba de”
“Jaa, jiko-shoukai shitanda!”
And finally, this one I don’t remember where I got it, but it’s epic:
一番あたまがいいどうぶつは何ですか。
カバですよ。馬鹿の反対ですから。
Muwahaha. I told that one to my host family, and sadly they were more worried I understood what “baka” meant than laughing about how “kaba” (hippo) was the smartest animal in the world because it was baka backwards. しょがないね。
Gundam & Gundam
So, this post is about Gundam (seed destiny and 00), and I felt like pointing out the similarities, not just because I have better things to do. And it goes to show that no, I’m not original
At any rate, read mine instead. Starting from the top there are the main-ish characters, Setsuna F. Seiei and Shin Asuka.
They even have similar character designs! Not to mention the angst,
since both have tragedies(more or less) involving gundams, and they still end up piloting. I guess the irony was so good they had to use it twice. And then there are the other look-alike characters that I won’t go into detail.
Et cetera. Not to mention the various minor characters. Many of the alliances are similar too, like the Earth Alliances and the various blocs such HR and the Atlantic … something (I’ll look it up later). There is of course haro, and unfortunately Flay is reincarnated as Louise Halevy. I guess you can’t improve on perfection. Seriously though, I’m not the only one that had been expecting something slightly different. Oh well, at least the nostalgia of it all partly makes up for it (some more than others) and it’s not like it’s a carbon copy. I mean, there aren’t “Coordinators” just super soldiers, and then there’s other surprises to 00 that may appear to be cop-outs at first, but really aren’t….
In any case, the HD is pretty great, and sometimes that alone is worth it to watch gundams battle it out.
Cheers!
-and then, some things never change.
The Cat Came Back
Is there even a reason to be blogging right now? No, because I don’t even really care, but at the same time I’m drawn to doing this, maybe just to waste time and avoid homework. And I’m experimenting (trying to educate my ignorance of this realm).
